Valorant gets a Gun Game-style mode in Escalation

And you don't have long to wait to play it.

Valorant will get a Gun Game-style mode with Escalation, which is scheduled for later this week.

Escalation is Valorant‘s take on Gun Game, a mode currently available in the likes of Counter-Strike and Call of Duty.

“In designing Escalation, we wanted to create a quick, low-stress Team Deathmatch mode with high uptime that’s fun to play socially with friends,” Riot Games’ Kyle Leach said of the new mode. “We’re hoping to provide players with an opportunity to practice gunplay across the entire arsenal and experience some abilities in novel ways, while providing a shared objective that benefits from some coordination but doesn’t require it for a team to succeed.”

Rather than being able to purchase weapons and abilities as in Valorant proper, you’ll be issued a randomly generated set of powers and guns. Your loadout will change with each round — the more kills your team gets, the lesser-powered your tools in the next go.

Escalation games are capped at a maximum of ten minutes, so that’s also great for those looking for bite-sized experiences.

Valorant is currently available on Windows PC. Escalation is expected from 18 February here in Australia.
