Undertale heads to Xbox, Xbox Game Pass tomorrow

Finally.

Undertale heads to Xbox One and the Xbox Game Pass program tomorrow, 17 March here within Australia.

The critically-acclaimed title was first released to Windows PC and Mac back in 2015, PS4 in 2017 and Switch in 2018.

“We know it’s been a long time coming, but we’re extremely excited to finally be bringing Undertale to Xbox players the world over,” developer 8-4 said in an announcement. “Whether it’s your first time exploring the underworld or your 50th, we hope the experience will be unforgettable!”

The title will not support Xbox Play Anywhere functionality between Xbox and PC, however.

“The aforementioned PC version of Undertale has been available on the Microsoft Store for a while now,” 8-4 continued. “While the Xbox version provides for a largely similar experience, there are a few Xbox-specific enhancements designed to make for a more comfortable time for those playing on a home console. Because of these, progress and save data between the two versions are unfortunately not compatible. But this also means that, similar to previous console releases, the Xbox version features its own little…shrine, one might say…of exclusive content to look out for.”

Undertale is currently available on Windows PC, Mac, PS4, PS5 and Switch; it heads to Xbox One and Xbox Series S & X tomorrow, 17 March.
