Two Pokemon Sword and Shield expansions coming this year

Two new Pokemon Sword and Shield expansions were today confirmed at today’s Pokemon Nintendo Direct presentation.

The expansions are titled Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra and will include new areas and Pokemon alongside the return of 200 older Pokemon back to the game’s Pokedex.

While the new Pokemon and new areas will be locked behind the expansions’ paywall, a free update timed for release will provide players the chance to either trade for or transfer the returning Galar Pokemon using the new Pokemon Home app.

The first expansion, Isle of Armor, will be available in June 2020 and is shown above, while the second expansion, Crown Tundra, follows later this year. Both expansions are available through an Expansion Pass, priced at $29.99 USD or $45.00 AUD. Pre-orders of the Expansion Pass will net you a new outfit alongside a Galarian Slowpoke that can be evolved into Slowking or Slowbro.

Pokemon Sword and Shield is available now on Nintendo Switch.
