(If it's real at all, that is...)
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis is a reimaging of the original, 1996 Tomb Raider adventure, and is planned for a 2026 release.
The game’s announcement trailer is below.
“Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a stunning reimagining of the 1996 genre-defining game,” reads a description on the trailer.
“As Lara Croft, harness your wits and athleticism to explore exotic locations lost to time—from the jungles of Peru to the ancient ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and a mysterious Mediterranean island shrouded in myth. Traverse treacherous landscapes, solve deadly contraptions, and face lethal predators as you hunt for the scattered pieces of the Scion, an artifact of immeasurable power.
“Whether you’re a veteran raider or new to Lara’s world, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delivers jaw-dropping visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, modern game design, and new surprises, while honoring the spirit and atmosphere of Lara Croft’s debut adventure.”
Original story: ResetEra user NeoRaider took to the forum overnight with an image suggested to be box art of the upcoming title, as clipped and shown above. NeoRaider claims the image — and screengrabs from a trailer or video — all come from the Tomb Raider Forums (TRF) — so, as always, take the accuracy of this leak, and the images, with a grain of salt.
“It was shared on a TRF in members only part of the forum, but not by direct source,” NeoRaider wrote. “So the source is TRF, as someone else said here already, not sure what other source and what else are you asking for.”
“It was shared by a user on Tomb Raider forums who has a ‘trusted source’,” added ResetEra user zaxil456. “No idea if it’s real but they’ve shared more screenshots since.”
Adding fuel to the fire, ResetEra user shinobi seemed to corroborate news of the remake, adding The Game Awards announcements will involve, “more than one thing.”
“You won’t be upset,” the tipster added.
We’ll likely find out if Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis is real or not within about 12 hours or so — The Game Awards’ pre-show kicks off in about seven hours from now.
