THQ Nordic acquires Timesplitters IP, rights

THQ Nordic’s Koch Media has purchased the IP and rights to the Timesplitters franchise, it recently confirmed.

“We are hugely excited to have acquired Timesplitters,” Koch Media CEO, Klemens Kundratitz, said. “The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience.”

While ports of the original titles are likely, the announcement suggests a new Timesplitters game is in the works.

“We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill today’s gaming audience,” Kundratitz said.

Koch Media owns developer Dambuster Studios, which is a studio that’s evolved from Timesplitters and developer Free Radical Design. The studio’s latest game was 2016’s Homefront: The Revolutionand even included a playable version of Timesplitters 2 within.
