The Sims 4 sexual orientation choice coming in new, free update

The Sims 4 will let players choose the sexual orientation of their sims as part of a new, free update coming at the end of the month.

The update will allow players to choose who their characters are romantically attracted to, who they’re interested in “mess around” with, and whether or not they’re exploring romantically.

“As a team, we hold creativity, discovery, inclusivity and play as core values and strive every day to celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion for our people and community,” Maxis said in a new update. “With that in mind, we’re delighted to bring the Sexual Orientation feature to all Simmers. Between this update and the recent pronouns update, we’re taking several strides forward into being a game that respects and celebrates the nuance and color of everyday life.

“It is important to acknowledge that these are steps in a journey that we are still mapping out. There is much further to go, and while I can’t get into the details of where exactly we go next, please know that we are committed to continuing to improve our representation of the LGBTQIA+ community.”

This new update is expected on 28 July and follows one back in May 2022 that allowed players to choose a character’s pronouns.

The Sims 4 is currently available on Windows PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One.
