The Sims 4 customisable pronouns now live

YAS.

The Sims 4 now supports customisable pronouns as Maxis and EA work to make the game more inclusive.

Sims created using the game’s Create a Sim will be able to specify or change their pronouns from a selected set or a custom set that a player creates.

In-built options include the likes of he, him, she, her and they, them. Custom pronouns will support subjective (they), objective (them), possessive dependent (their), possessive independent (theirs) and reflexive (themself) forms.

Maxis admits that there are still instances of gendered language like “Policeman” or “Policewoman” found within the game and has promised to work on that.

“We understand that there is still work to be done to make the game more inclusive of all genders, and we look forward to continuing to investigate areas where we can further improve this in the game,” the developer said.

Earlier this year, Maxis and EA released The Sims 4 Weddings Stories, content that revolved around the marriage of two female characters.

The Sims 4 is currently available on Windows PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One.
