The Plucky Squire update offers “a less hand-holdy experience”

Rejoice!

The Plucky Squire has been updated with a new streamlined mode that offers “a less hand-holdy experience”.

“You can still play the game as it was before, but a new abridged Streamlined Mode has been added for anyone who’d prefer a less hand-holdy experience,” reads a press release. “This trims less necessary dialogue, removes or reduces camera hints, cuts out some tutorial content, and control of the game is taken away from you less often.

“It’s the same grand Plucky Squire adventure, just tweaked to remove some of the friction for seasoned gamers.”

The update will likely address some of the issues we had with the title.

“Whereas The Plucky Squire teaches with a lot of exposition — sometimes required, due to the 3D and 2D nature of the game — I’m playing Astro Bot at the same time, and it can articulate entirely new gameplay systems with a couple icons and, perhaps, a short video,” I wrote back in September.

The update has been released on Windows PC, and is expected “very soon” on consoles.

The Plucky Squire is available now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, and Switch.
