The new Witcher game seemingly drops Wolf School for Lynx School

And a fanmade project is undoubtedly chuffed at the news.

The new Witcher game will seemingly drop Geralt’s Wolf School for the Lynx School, with CD Projekt Red confirming that medallion seen in a recent teaser image is one depicting a lynx.

“Ok, some mysteries should not be so mysterious,” CD Projekt Red’s Robert Malinowski told Eurogamer earlier today. “I can confirm that the medallion is, in fact, shaped after a lynx.”

While CDPR hasn’t confirmed that the new game will revolve around the a Lynx School, it’s a safe assumption — Geralt’s Wolf School medallion was always front-and-centre in the original trilogy.

The really interesting thing here is that there isn’t a Lynx School proper in current Witcher canon, though a fanmade story tells of witcher Lambert and sorceress Kiera Metz spinning up the Lynx School from the remnants of the old Cat and Wolf Schools.

It’s very unlikely that CDPR will use the basis of that fanmade story to propel “a new saga” of The Witcher; we’ll let you know what to expect when the developer drops more information.

Apart from this lynx medallion, all we know about the next Witcher game is that it will run on Unreal Engine 5.
