The Division Heartland cancelled by Ubisoft

The upcoming free-to-play title is no more.

The Division Heartland has been cancelled by Ubisoft, the publisher has today revealed.

“In line with the increased selectivity of its investments, Ubisoft has decided to stop development on The Division Heartland and has redeployed resources to bigger opportunities such as XDefiant and Rainbow Six,” the company said as part of its quarterly earnings report.

While it’s sad news for those looking forward to Heartland, the added developers from that team are sure to bolster XDefiant; the class-based shooter finally releases later this month.

As part of the earnings call, Ubisoft said it planned to focus on open-world titles like Star Wars Outlaws and the recently announced Assassin’s Creed Shadows alongside ongoing live service games such as XDefiant.

XDefiant heads to Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 on 22 May. The title is free-to-play.
