The Dark Pictures goes sci-fi with Directive 8020 in 2025

Yes please.

Supermassive’s Dark Pictures Anthology will continue when Directive 8020 hits current-gen consoles and PC next year.

“Earth is dying and humanity is running out of time,” said Supermassive in a tease at Gamescom.

“12 light years from home, Tau Ceti f offers a small sliver of hope. When the colony ship Cassiopeia crash lands on the planet, its crew soon realise they are far from being alone… As they battle to survive, they are confronted with the hardest choice of all: to save themselves, they must risk the lives of everyone on Earth.”

Directive 8020 itself seems to be an evolution of the Dark Pictures franchise, with persistent real-time threats, stealth mechanics, improvised weapons, and “intense survival gameplay”.

If you’re jonesing for some Supermassive before 2025, don’t forget that The Casting of Frank Stone is just on the horizon, taking place within Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight universe.

Expect The Dark Pictures Directive 8020 in 2025 on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
