Thanos in Fortnite Battle Royale via Avengers Infinity War mashup

Avengers Infinity War‘s Thanos will appear in Fortnite Battle Royale for a limited time, Epic has confirmed.

The news comes by way of Entertainment Weekly, who reports that Thanos will enter the game from 8 May. In the special Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup mode, a single Infinity Gauntlet will spawn on the map. Whoever picks it up will be able to wield its power in an attempt to best 99 other players.

“Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” Infinity War Co-Director Joe Russo said. “And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers–Fortnite mashup? So we stalked Donald [Mustard, Worldwide Creative Director at Epic Games].”

“It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about,” Mustard added. “About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”

It’s unclear how long the mode will last in-game.

Fortnite: Battle Royale is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and iOS.
