Take-Two is acquiring Codemasters

Take-Two Interactive is acquiring Codemasters in a $994 million USD deal that’s expected to be finalised in the first quarter of 2021.

Take-Two is the giant behind 2K and Rockstar Games, and Codemasters is the puiblisher behind such racing titles as the DiRT franchises, F1 and Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS. As such, Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick said that the acquisition will be “highly complimentary” to the company’s sports portfolio, which of course includes NBA 2K, PGA Tour 2K, WWE 2K and (technically) NHL 2K.

The latest from Codemasters, DiRT 5, was released to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 last week; an Xbox Series S and X version is already available this week, with a PS5 version to follow tomorrow.
