Switch 2 digital game upgrades priced at up to $30 AUD

Some are free, some are not.

Australian Switch 2 digital game upgrade prices have been detailed for select first-party Nintendo games, and we’ve got the information for you right here.

First, pricing will depend not only on the game, but on the type of upgrade Nintendo will offer.

Free Switch 2 digital game upgrades

First, a handful of original Switch games will receive free Switch 2 digital game upgrades. 

These upgrades “may improve performance or add support for features such as GameShare in select games,” Nintendo said. “The contents of these free updates will differ depending on the game.”

Free Switch 2 digital game upgrade titles (to date) are as follows:

  • Arms
  • Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
  • Clubhouse Games 51 Worldwide Classics
  • The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening
  • The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
  • Game Builder Garage
  • New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
  • Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet
  • Big Brain Academy Brain vs Brain

$20 AUD Switch 2 digital game upgrades

The lowest of Nintendo’s paid upgrades, titles in this section will offer improved performance, an additional save slot, and compatibility with Nintendo’s new Zelda Notes app.

Games include:

  • The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
  • The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Those who subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack also receive the two upgrades above for no additional cost.

$30 AUD Switch 2 digital game upgrades

Finally, the most expensive of the paid upgrades will not only include improved performance, but new content.

Games include:

  • Super Mario Party Jamboree
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land

The games above are all available now on the original Switch, of course. Players can expect the Switch 2 from 5 June 2025.
