Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster has “every fighter” in Smash history

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the name of the game on Nintendo Switch, with the publisher today confirming the game’s roster.

“Every fighter in Super Smash Bros. history is joining the battle,” Nintendo confirmed. This includes one-time characters and those added later as DLC.

This means that Metal Gear Solid‘s Snake is back, as is Street Fighter‘s Ryu. Other third-party characters like Sonic the Hedgehog and Pac Man are too. Additionally, controversial character(s), Ice Climbers, make a reappearance.

The series will celebrate its history, with many different variations of each character, like a female version of Pikachu. Fox McCloud will be based off Star Fox Zero, Nintendo also confirmed.

New echo fighters include Daisy (as an echo to Peach). Splatoon‘s Inklings have also been added to the game’s roster. Metroid‘s Ridley will also appear as a fighter.

Confirmed Assist Trophies include Super Bomberman, The Squid Sisters and Nintendogs. Some Assist Trophies can now be KOed, giving that player extra points.

We’ll have more on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as it’s made available.
