Super Mario Galaxy, Galaxy 2 head to Switch in early October

With 4K support on Switch 2.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 are both heading to Switch in early October, available as a new bundle or as individual purchases.

“Travel the cosmos with Mario in Super Mario Galaxy, then board Starship Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2 with Yoshi as your companion,” Nintendo said in a press release. “Both titles feature improved UI, the option to play with button and stick or motion controls, an in-game music player, new Storybook content and enhanced resolution.”

Those that have already upgraded to a Switch 2 will be able to access a free update that adds support for 4K resolution on both titles.

“While Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available combined as Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 in a physical version, each title will be available digitally on Nintendo eShop,” Nintendo added.

The release is part of celebrations for Super Mario Bros.’ 40th anniversary. Also detailed today were two new amiibos, the Super Mario Galaxy Movie (coming 3 April), and more at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 heads to the Nintendo Switch on 2 October.
