Stranger Things returns to Dead by Daylight

Licensing issues no more.

Stranger Things content has returned to Dead by Daylight after a two-year absence.

As we reported back back in 2021Stranger Things content was pulled from Dead by Daylight‘s in-game store on 18 November 2021. The content was confirmed to be removed as a result of an expiring licensing agreement between Dead by Daylight‘s Behaviour Interactive and Stranger Things IP holder Netflix.

Avaliable content included survivors Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington, a killer in the Demogorgon, the Hawkins National Laboratory Underground Complex map, and a number of supporting skins and outfits.

Flash-forward to today, and all those aforementioned characters, maps and skins have returned.

“We’re thrilled to renew this collaboration with Netflix, to bring back the Stranger Things Chapter, including the Underground Complex Map from the Hawkins National Laboratory, and the iconic Survivor duo composed of Nancy Wheeler, a tough aspiring journalist, and Steve Harrington, a former high school jock with a knack for finding trouble,” said Behaviour’s Mathieu Côté.

“We hope players who didn’t get to experience Stranger Things will take full advantage of this gaming experience today.”

Those who’ve previously purchased the content (thankfully) won’t have to buy it again. Hopefully, those keen on the asymettrical horror title bought the content when it was offered for up to 60% off right before it was removed.

The horror game’s been on a bit of a tear of late — its latest additions included Aliens‘ Ripley and xenomorph. Before that, horror fans were able to start playing as none other than Nic Cage.

Dead by Daylight is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch; it’s also available through Xbox Game Pass.
