Steam Deck heads to new countries… but not Australia

Time to order one through Japan?

Steam Deck availability has been extended to new Asian countries, though sadly Australia still misses out.

Those in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong are now able to access Valve’s handheld PC through authorised reseller Komodo. As such, order systems between these Asian countries and other available regions are separate.

“Shipments will begin in Japan, with additional units planned to ship to customers in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan in the weeks immediately following,” Komodo advised in a press release. “The world’s most powerful gaming handheld, which is also a full-fledged PC, first arrived in North America and parts of Europe in February to rave reviews and with hundreds of compatible single and multiplayer games.”

“We hope that gamers in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan agree with us that the performance and design of the Steam Deck makes it a great way to play the games they know and love,” said Gabe Newell, President and CEO of Valve.

Pricing per region is as follows:

  • ¥59,800 in Japan
  • NT$ 13,380 in Taiwan
  • HK$ 3,288 in Hong Kong
  • ₩ 589,000 in Korea
