Star Wars: Battlefront 2 out in 2017; features content “from the new movies”

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen used the company’s fourth quarter investor call to confirm that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is in development and will release in 2017.

Moreover, Jorgensen said the game would feature “bigger and better worlds” alongside content “from the new movies.”

Star Wars: Battlefront has so far only used characters and locations from the original Star Wars trilogy. The only exception is a map set on The Force Awaken‘s Jakku, though that’s the only real connection to the newest Star Wars film.

The next Star Wars film, Rogue One, will screen later in 2016.
