Still too hard? This'll sort you.
Star Trek Voyager Across the Unknown now allows players the opportunity to set their own, customised difficulty setting should default ones still prove too challenging.
Game difficulty was a sticking point in both my own review of Across the Unknown for TrekMovie alongside Jam’s review for Stevivor. While a previous patch had addressed this issue as far as I was concerned, this new update goes an extra step further.
“With the brand new customizable run settings, you decide how Voyager survives the Delta Quadrant,” developer gameXcite said in a new blog post. “Fine-tune resources, change difficulties, quest balancing, and story pressure to match your playstyle – whether you want a tense survival challenge or a more strategic, story-driven experience.
The new fourth difficulty setting will let players determine how a number of different variables will impact a playthrough, including morale penalties, away mission challenges and XP, research and construction times, and far more.
While most will likely toggle these variables down for an easier experience, they can also be ratcheted up for a more challenging one. On that, a specific Challenge Mode will disable manual saves, though does auto-save after every event.
Today’s update also includes a number of bug fixes; full patch notes can be found here.
Star Trek Voyager Across the Unknown is now available on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, and Switch 2. We have a massive Achievement and Trophy guide for the game here.
