Star Trek: TNG heads back to the Mirror Universe in new 5-part comic

Star Trek: The Next Generation heads back to the Mirror Universe in a new, 5-part comic series called Through the Mirror.

Published by IDW, Through the Mirror continues on from IDW’s past series, Mirror Broken. Unlike that first series, Through the Mirror will find the The Next Generation’s Prime Universe crew swapping places with their Mirror Universe counterparts.

We assume due to a transporter malfunction that occurs during an ion storm.

“The one thing that’s never been done in Star Trek’s Mirror Universe tales is an all-out clash between universes! The opportunity to set Picard against Picard was just too exciting to resist!” co-writer Scott Tipton told IGN.

“While the previous Mirror Broken series introduced The Next Generation Mirror characters, this new series will give us not only a closer look at them but also show them crossing over into the Prime Universe as well, leading up to an ultimate confrontation between the Enterprise crews,” co-writer David Tipton added.

Mirror Broken, released in 2017, ran for five issues as well. The series is one of The Next Generation‘s first (non-canonical) forays into the Mirror Universe; like Star Trek: Voyager, the television show didn’t venture into the multiverse… or that specific location in the multiverse, rather. It was also a really, really good comic series worth checking out; so much so, it has spawned character models in Star Trek: Timelines.

Additionally, the Mirror Universe proved a vital component of the first season of Star Trek: Discovery.

Star Trek: The Next Generation – Through the Mirror debuts on 2 May, with a new comic released each week.
