Star Trek Strange New Worlds turns Pike into a puppet in Season 4

And maybe the whole crew?

At San Diego Comic-Con today, Paramount teased a Season 4 episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds in which Captain Pike turns into a puppet.

It’s somewhat unclear if it’s just Captain Pike that gets the muppet treatment, a la Angel in Angel‘s Smile Time, or if the entire crew of the Enterprise will also share his fate. In detailing the episode however, Paramount said that the puppets — plural — were crafted and operated by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

Fan reaction to the puppet episode is mixed.

“Oh come on man,” wrote one YouTube user. “Can we see strange new worlds instead of, ‘hey look at us behind the scene people we’re so cool doing a Muppet episode?'”

“Yes! I am all here for crazy Versions of Trek,” proclaimed another.

The episode will be directed by Jordan Canning, who has already directed Strange New World Episodes “Spock Amok,” “Charades,” and “Wedding Bell Blues”.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 3 is currently airing now, with episode 4 out Thursday. This puppet episode will air in Season 4 sometime in 2026.
