The Starfleet Academy NYCC trailer seems to set the tone of the show, centring around a that involves Academy chancellor Nahla Ake (Holly Hunter), the evil Nus Braka (Paul Giamatti), and new cadet Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta). Both Ake and Mir are on a quest to find Mir’s mother (Tatiana Maslany), who seems to have suffered some horrible fate at the hands of Braka.
