Star Trek Prodigy will be fully CG-animated, coming in 2021

Star Trek Prodigy, the animated series set to debut on Nickelodeon, has today been confirmed for a 2021 release.

Outlets are reporting that Prodigy received its name at the same time its logo was unveiled, but that’s simply not true — we reported on Prodigy way back in January of this year.

Alongside the logo, above, it was also confirmed that Prodigy will be the first fully CG-animated Star Trek series.

Star Trek Prodigy is developed by developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (TrollhuntersNinjago). Not much else is known about the show as yet, though we’ll update you as we learn more. Prodigy is the second Star Trek animated series in production — Star Trek: Lower Decks will begin airing in August.
