Star Trek Online’s DS9 gets a total rebuild for Victory is Life

Deep Space Nine will be totally rebuilt inside Star Trek: Online and its new Victory Is Life expansion, developer Cryptic Studios recently confirmed.

Nick Duguid, Senior Environment Artist, took to a new blog post to detail the news.

“We’ve had a Deep Space Nine map in the game for ages now, but like other things from those days, DS9 has been showing its age,” Duguid wrote. “There are a lot of issues with the old map that we don’t need to get into, so let’s talk about what we’ve done on the new map instead.

“We’ve rebuilt the entirety of the Promenade ring to match the show.  That means all of your favorite spots are there, including one you’ve already got a sneak peek at in the recent episode “The Renegade’s Regret”- the Security Office and its Holding Cells.”

Moreover, famous spots like Garak’s shop, Quark’s Bar and the Bajoran Temple will be rebuilt according to Deep Space Nine‘s canon blueprints.

The news comes as Cryptic also announced that the Cardassian race will become a playable race inside the new expansion.

“With the coming of Victory is Life, and its connections to Deep Space Nine, it made sense to bring about one of the longest requested features in Star Trek Online: we’re adding Cardassians as a playable species for both Starfleet and Klingon Factions,” Robert ‘CrypticRidi’ Hrouda confirmed.

“Cardassians have a unique species trait and a unique optional trait – check below for some details on what this new race will bring to the table.”

Big news, both, for Star Trek: Online fans. The Victory is Life expansion heads to PC first in June 2018, followed by a later release on Xbox One and PS4.
