Star Trek Online First Contact event coming in April 2020

Star Trek Online First Contact event will take place throughout April 2020, Perfect World and Cryptic have advised.

The event celebrates First Contact — not the film, but the specific event in which humanity met its first alien race, the Vulcans, for the first time. That event actually was in Star Trek: First Contact, so maybe we are celebrating the movie too.

“First Contact Day for Star Trek Online kicks off in Bozeman, Montana, the same site where Zefram Cochrane launched the historic Phoenix, the first Human warp-capable ship,” Perfect World said of the event. As an aside, the actual (fictional) date of first contact is 5 April.

“Captains will travel back to mid-21st century Earth to face The Borg, who seek to alter the timeline to prevent first contact between humans and Vulcans. To accomplish this, players will enlist the help of Seven-of-Nine, voiced by Jeri Ryan from Star Trek: Voyager and Picard. Besides protecting the timeline from The Borg in this new patrol, players can also team up with four friends to build a replica of the Phoenix.

“After scavenging the area for engines, hulls and stabilizer parts, they will construct their own model and compete with other teams to see who can reach the highest altitude. Rewards for participating in these events include a First Contact Day bundle and for those who reach 14 days of progress, a powerful Temporal Vortex Probe which can travel through local space to debilitate enemy vessels in the area.”

The Star Trek Online First Contact event will take place on Windows PC from 2-23 April, and on Xbox One and PS4 from 9-30 April. Those who complete 14 days of events will receive the following rewards:

  • Console – Universal – Temporal Vortex Probe (Account Unlock)
  • First Contact Day Bundle – contains all of the following:
    • 1x Captain Specialization Point (cannot reclaim)
    • 25,000 Dilithium Ore (cannot reclaim)
    •  “Launch Toy Rocket” Social Device (Account Unlock)
    • Holo-Emitter – Phoenix Shuttle (Account Unlock)

Star Trek Online is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
