Star Fox Zero only has cosmetic content locked behind amiibo figures

It doesn’t matter if you’re in love with your new plush Yoshi amiibo… the fact of the matter is, Star Fox Zero won’t be locking proper game content behind it.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed with Kotaku that the upcoming title will simply offer up cosmetic items via amiibo support.

“[Players are] going to get a little something extra and that’s how I’m planning on it with this game,” Miyamoto said. “So rather than actual abilities or things like that changing in the game, it would be like getting a different skin for the Arwing or something like that.

“I’m really not thinking about there being locked content or there being a mode that you won’t be able to play if you don’t have one. Since we already have the existing Smash Bros. amiibos I basically want to put in something so if you already have those amiibos, there is something that gives a nice charge when you do that.”

We checked out Star Fox Zero at E3 this year, so check back soon for our thoughts.
