Square Enix is not for sale, it says after today’s rumours

Bloomberg got it wrong, says the publisher.

Square Enix is not for sale, the publisher today declared after rumours published by a handful of outlets that suggested it was.

“Bloomberg has reported today that there is interest from several buyers to acquire Square Enix,” the company wrote in a press release.

“However, this report is not based on any announcement by Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party to acquire the company or any part of its businesses.”

Bloomberg’s report actually came about as a result of reporting by CTFN.

Square Enix’s shares rose by 12% after Bloomberg’s reporting, the highest gain it’s seen in eight months.
