South Park: The Fractured But Whole’s difficulty is tied to race

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will feature a difficulty slider that is tied to race.

The slider was announced as part of a recent Eurogamer preview.

“Don’t worry, this doesn’t affect combat,” South Park‘s Eric Cartman, acting as narrator, advises. “Just every other aspect of your whole life.”

You can check out the difficulty slider at the 5:40 mark of the video below:

Ubisoft confirmed with Eurogamer that the difficulty setting will affect the amount of money received in-game, alongside the way other characters treat you. As you can see above, things are easiest as a white player.

How’s that for a social commentary?

South Park: The Fractured But Whole heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 17 October.
