Sonic movie sequel confirmed by Sega, Paramount

A sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been confirmed by Sega Sammy and Paramount Pictures, Variety today reports.

Development of the sequel is underway, though not at the point where casting announcements can be made, the organisations have confirmed. Jeff Fowlers has been confirmed as the film’s director, while Pat Casey and Josh Miller will write its script.

Sonic the Hedgehog was released in February 2020, starring (the voice of) Ben Schwartz as Sonic, James Marsden as friend Tom and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. The film proved controversal ahead of released due to an initial Sonic design that didn’t please fans in the slightest.

We’ll have more on the Sonic movie sequel as news becomes available.
