Sonic Mania Plus will bring new content to base game

In a big weekend for Sonic fans, Sonic Mania Plus was announced alongside the tease of a new Sonic Racing title.

The news comes from SXSW in Austin, Texas, where Sega confirmed that Sonic Mania Plus will head to stores in the Australian winter. The game will bundle Sonic Mania alongside additional, new content.

Said content includes an Encore Mode that remixes stages alongside two new playable characters, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. A four-player Competition mode was also confirmed.

Sonic Mania Plus is priced at $29.99 USD, though those who already own Sonic Mania Plus will be able to upgrade and take advantage of the new content.

Sonic Mania is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch; we previewed it here. An exact release date for Sonic Mania Plus has not yet been detailed.
