Sledgehammer Games is opening a studio in Melbourne

Sledgehammer Games will open a studio in Melbourne, it was today announced.

The Activision Blizzard-owned studio’s first hire is local developer Alayna M. Cole, who happens to be the one who made the announcement itself.

“Hey heeeeey, look what I was allowed to announce at my [NZGDC19] talk, and now on social media,” Cole wrote on Twitter. “You’re looking at the first official hire at [Sledgehammer Games] Melbourne! I am so excited to say I will be starting there as a producer on Monday, and helping to grow our studio in my new home.”

It’s unclear what the studio is working on, how where exactly in Melbourne it will be based. We’ve approached Activision Blizzard for more information about the newly announced studio. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
