Skate has launched (with progression bugs and server queues)

But it's great fun!

Skate has officially launched in early access, and its launch comes complete with the usual teething issues. This morning, players have reported progression issues, server outages, and server queues.

I’ve encountered most of these personally, and thankfully, most issues are either being worked on or have easy workarounds.

The first issue that players may face when cavemaning into San Vansterdam is that missions aren’t appearing or can’t be selected. I’ve found that quitting and relaunching the game sorts that problem (which, admittedly, is a bit annoying).

Servers appeared to go down around 10.15 am AEST this morning, but they appear to be back up already. You may or may not experience some server queues when trying to log in; our longest wait this morning was around 2 minutes.

I’m definitely not a skateboard person, but I’m enjoying Skate quite a lot.

“Frankly, the only reason I stopped playing the preview build is because I knew my progression wouldn’t carry over into the full early access release candidate next month,” I wrote in my preview. “As soon as San Van opens its doors to skate faithful, I’ll be back — and, with cross-platform and cross-progression support, I’m sure to see a lot of you there too.”

Skate is now available as a free-to-play early access release on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. A later release is planned for both iOS and Android devices.
