Silent Hill f has not been refused classification in Australia

We've asked the Classification Board to elaborate.

Update: The Australian Classification Board has confirmed that Silent Hill f has not been refused classification.

Silent Hill f is not currently classified as ‘Refused Classification’ in Australia,” reads a statement from the Classification Board to Stevivor. “The 14 March 2025 entry on the National Classification Database has been removed,” it continues, adding that, “a classification decision will be published to the National Classification Database ahead of the game’s release.”

While not confirmed by the Classification Board, this looks to be chalked up to an error by the self-reporting tool.

Orignal story: Silent Hill f appears to have been refused classification here in Australia, though something seems a little off about the process.

A page on the Australian Classification Board’s website was updated on 14 March to state that Silent Hill f was refused classification through the IARC Global Rating Tool. Since that news has reached consumers, said page has been removed from the Classification Board’s website. At the time of writing, the page simply reads, “You are not authorized to access this page.”

Silent Hill f‘s Steam page says the title involves “depictions of gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, drug-induced hallucinations, torture, and graphic violence,” so it could be that drug usage has played a factor in this decision.

We’ve reached out to the Classification Board to see if there was an issue with the IARC Global Rating Tool — which allows a publisher to self-rate their title and has caused issues in the past — or if the title truly has been refused classification.

Announced back in October 2022Silent Hill f is “a completely new story set in 1960’s Japan featuring a beautiful, yet horrifying world,” according to Konami.

“Written by Ryūkishi07, famed for Japanese visual novels dealing with murder mysteries, psychological and supernatural horror.”

We’ll report back as we learn more on the status of Silent Hill f.
