Silent Hill 2 patch creates game-breaking bug

Do you have patch 1.04? Be careful!

Silent Hill 2 patch 1.04 has introduced a game breaking bug, Bloober Team and Konami have confirmed.

“We are aware of an issue some players may encounter after the most recent 1.04 patch released on October the 21st in the Labyrinth level of Silent Hill 2,” reads an update. “This blocker can occur if you load a save data from the Labyrinth level (after Toluca Prison) created before applying the 1.04 patch.”

While a fix is being worked on and “will be released as soon as possible,” a temporary workaround consists of “using an earlier save, before entering the Labyrinth”.

Users on Reddit are reporting the bug occurs on both PS5 and PC.

“Literally saved and quit last night after finishing the first Path, to wake up to an update that might’ve broke it,” wrote one user. “I’m a PC-player so just know Steam’s version got broke too! Waiting to see if they release a super quick hotfix soon.”

Maaaaaaybe best to avoid playing until things are sorted.

Silent Hill 2 is available on both Windows PC and PS5. We reviewed it here.
