Sega developing “Super Game” franchise, may include NFTs

Yay?

Sega is hard at work on a “Super Game” franchise that will span its IP, and may also include non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The news comes from VGC, which is reporting on both a translated financials presentation and an interview posted to a recruitment website.

“Sega offers a wide range of game content, including hardware and arcade content, which is made possible by its diverse range of technologies,” Sega’s Shuji Utsumi said in a portion of the translated interview. “We have defined ‘SuperGame’ as the development of AAA titles that cross over SEGA’s comprehensive range of technologies, and we will aim to achieve this in our five-year plan.”

The “Super Game” franchise is also said to incorporate cloud technology and NFTs. Sega trademarked the term “Sega NFT” back in January of this year.

“It is a natural extension for the future of gaming that it will expand to involve new areas such as cloud gaming and NFT,” added Masayoshi Kikuchi in another portion of the translated interview.

“We are also developing SuperGame from the perspective of how far different games can be connected to each other.”

We’ll keep you informed as more is learned about the “Super Game” franchise.
