Save file destroying Mortal Kombat X PC patch published, pulled

A patch published for Mortal Kombat X on Windows PC via Steam was today published and then pulled back after it was discovered the patch was deleting users’ save files.

“We are temporarily removing the patch until we can pinpoint the cause of save data loss,” Waner Bros. said via a Steam update. “We are actively working on this and will keep everyone posted as we work towards a fix. We sincerely apologize for this disruption.”

The state of MKX on Windows PC appears to be a sorry one, with creator Ed Boon taking to a livestream yesterday to assert his team is trying to correct it.

“We are slaving to try to get [the game] as good playing as possible,” Boon said. “There’s no way we consider ourselves content with where we are as far as the online experience.”
