Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 ditch the bean approach

Maybe they'll stay in my ears...

Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds 3 range will ditch their bean-like design for one more resembling Apple AirPods, it was revealed yesterday.

Rather than just the bean — and I say this as a Buds user who almost immediately regretted his purchase because I couldn’t get the darn things to stay in my ear — the Buds 3 will feature an AirPods-like stem. The Buds 3 will not have in-ear tips, while the Buds 3 Pro will, so they’re even more like the Apple AirPods Pro.

In terms of specs, the Buds 3 have an 11mm dynamic driver for sound, alongside 3 microphones and support for 24-bit Hi-Res audio (providing you’re using a compatible Galaxy device). They also support 360 Audio spatial sound with head tracking and active noise cancellation. Finally, they Buds 3 have a 48mAh battery capacity.

The Buds 3 Pro (pictured above) are similar to the base version, and have added features like a two-way speaker design with a 10.5mm dynamic driver and 6.1mm planar twitter, and ambient sound detection when it comes to active noise cancelling. The Buds 3 Pro also have a 53mAh battery capacity.

Both Buds 3 charging cases have a 515mAh battery capacity.

The Buds 3 are priced at $299.00 AUD, while the Buds 3 Pro are $399.00. Pre-orders for the Buds 3 start today, 11 July, ahead of general availability from 31 July 2024. Samsung’s currently offering some cashback for pre-orders too, so if you’re interested we’d advise to get in quick.
