Toronto Overwatch League team reportedly in the works

A Toronto Overwatch League team will soon be announced, according to a report by ESPN.

The sports site suggests that Esports organisation Splyce is currently in talks to introduce a Toronto-based team to the ever-growing league. The business transaction is expected to cost Splyce $35 million USD.

ESPN furthers that Canadian entrepreneur Michael Kimel and his family will own the team alongside Splyce investor OverActive Media. Michael Kimel is also a minority owner of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

Two new Overwatch League teams, Atlanta and Guangzhou, recently joined the league. ESPN also reports that teams are being discussed for cities such as Paris.

Are you excited to potentially see Canadian representation in the Overwatch League?

Overwatch is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
