Is CS:GO getting a battle royale mode like PUBG?

It looks as if Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) is getting a battle royale mode, mirroring PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Valve News Network reports that the game’s rumoured Survival mode shares a lot in common with the likes of PUBG. Patches, first appearing in May 2016, have added a bunch of as yet unseen functionality including unarmed combat, armour, supply crates, parachutes, drones, compound bows, breach charges, adrenaline shots, sonar, beacons, new grenades and night vision goggles.

Most importantly, the patches have added, an as yet unreleased island map alongside many, many instances of the word “survival”.

You can watch the report in full below.

Granted, May 2016 is before PUBG‘s time, but the battle royale format was already being tested in Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene’s DayZ: Battle Royale mod during that time.

Valve, as you’d expect, has remained silent regarding the report. We’ll keep you informed as more is (PlayerUn)known.
