Is Call of Duty: WWII the next game in the franchise?

Call of Duty‘s next title may go all the way back to World War II, if a new rumour is to be believed.

A YouTube channel known as TheFamilyVideoGamers has claimed an email from an Activision insider has tipped them off to the setting of the new title.

The channel alleges the email came with a bunch of promotional images too. We’ve screencapped a couple for you to peruse.

A 14-minute video from the channel also has alleged cover art.

Last month, Activision said the next Call of Duty would “go back to its roots”.

“It’s clear that, for a portion of our audience, the space setting just didn’t resonate,” Activision Blizzard COO Thomas Tippl said of the most recent title in the franchise Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

This rumour certainly would qualify as heading back to its roots — the first three Call of Duty titles, alongside World at War, were all based in WWII.

Sledgehammer Games is developing the next Call of Duty title. We’ll have more as we learn it.
