Amazon to reportedly acquire EA

OOOH.

Megacorporation Amazon is set to acquire EA, a new report from USA Today has suggested.

The outlet says Amazon is looking to bolster its current stable of IP with the likes of EA’s Dragon Age, Dead Space, Mass Effect and more.

While Amazon would certainly benefit from new games in those franchises — and more — it would certainly add television shows via Amazon Prime Video as well.

Other companies rumoured to be interested in EA include Disney and Apple. Amazon’s announcement is said to be confirmed within the next twenty-four hours.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Update: CNBC is now reporting that Amazon isn’t planning to make an offer on EA, contradicting earlier reports. Neither EA nor Amazon have made comment on the report as yet.
