Rooster Teeth, Always Sunny’s Rob McElhenney team up for new horror show

Rooster Teeth has partnered with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney (above) for Spikeface, a new animated series that will be executive produced by McElhenney.

Variety reports the show, an animated horror-comedy, will run for eight episodes and is based on an idea by writers Geoff Barbanell and Itai Grunfeld. It will follow an iconic horror icon as he raises a child orphaned as a result of his own killing spree.

“So many of us at Rooster Teeth are huge fans of Rob and we can’t wait to help him and his team bring Spikeface to life,” Rooster Teeth’s Burnie Burns said in a statement.

Burnie added that the deal “sends a really strong message to young people: if you study, work hard and produce over a decade of top-quality beloved network television programming, well then maybe you can get your own show on the internet too.”

Spikeface is planned for a 2019 release on Rooster Teeth’s subscription-based streaming service, First.

We’ll have more on Spikeface as it’s made available.
