Roller Champions not cancelled, but its next season is delayed

Problems on top of problems.

Roller Champions won’t be cancelled, but problems with the experience will mean a delay to its next season, Ubisoft has confirmed.

The publisher moved quickly to squash rumours that the 3v3 free-to-play title would soon be shelved, as first alleged by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb.

Roller Champions is gonna be cancelled after Season 3,” Grubb said, reading a statement from a source.

Ubisoft took to Twitter shortly afterward, saying, “Let’s clear it out of the way first, Roller Champions isn’t getting cancelled, and Ubisoft fully supports it.”

In its larger statement, Ubisoft also confirmed that the current season, Disco Fever, would be extended to “solve the issues our players have voiced as irritants”.

I’ve been playing Roller Champions and frequently run up to long queue times, unstable connections and just horrible players who don’t seem to be impacted by reporting. It’s a shame too, because on the odd occasion when Roller Champions works, it’s super fun.

One thing’s certain in my mind — if Roller Champions can’t be fixed (and I’m not sure it can), Ubisoft had better issue long-suffering players with super-grindy 100,000 fans and 200 wins so we can clear out our Achievement and Trophy lists.

Roller Champions is avaliable on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch. We reviewed it here.
