Rocksteady layoffs have come as result of the “disappointing” performance of its live service Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, a new report has revealed.
A Eurogamer report says that Rocksteady’s QA team has essentially been halved in just one month, reduced to 15 positions from 33. The layoffs are suggested to be a direct result of Suicide Squad‘s sales numbers.
The report furthers that one developer, one who was on maternity leave, found out they’d been made redundant whilst on leave.
Last month, Warner Bros. said it had experienced a 41% reduction in gaming revenue year-on-year because of the “weak performance” of Suicide Squad, furthering that it had lost $200m on the title.
“Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League could have been something great,” Jay said in our 4/10 review.
“The quality character visuals, one or two laugh-out-loud jokes and some interesting takes on supervillain humanity are sadly overshadowed by repetitive missions, frustrating controls, and unsatisfying combat. It feels as though very early on in development the game’s intended direction was lost and it very quickly became too late for Rocksteady to get it back on track.”
Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is available on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, alongside Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
