Return to Monkey Island creator realises most of the internet is garbage

Cool cool, so-called "fans".

Return to Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert will no longer speak of the upcoming game a result of toxic fans and abuse hurled towards him on the internet.

Yeah, we’ve been there too, Ron.

“I’m shutting down comments. People are just being mean and I’m having to delete personal attack comments,” Gilbert wrote on his blog.

“It’s an amazing game and everyone on the team is very proud of it. Play it or don’t play it but don’t ruin it for everyone else,” he continued. “I won’t be posting anymore about the game. The joy of sharing has been driven from me.”

Fans have been critical of Return to Monkey Island‘s art style, a topic that Gilbert has addressed in the past.

“It’s ironic that the people who don’t want me to make the game I want to make are some of the hard core Monkey Island fans,” he said at the time. “And that is what makes me sad about all the comments.”

We don’t have a specific release date as yet, but we can expect Return to Monkey Island sometime in 2022 on Windows PC and Switch.
