The Resident Evil (Re-)Re-make is heading to Xbox, PlayStation and PC next year

Last night, Capcom confirmed that the 2002 remake of 1996’s Resident Evil will head to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and Windows PC.

So we’re all clear, this is the version of Resident Evil that appeared on GameCube — alongside Resident Evil 0 — and not the PlayStation original. We’re all on the same page, yeah?

Capcom says they’re “using the latest resolution enhancement and 3D model technology” for the re-remake, and as such, “game resolutions and textures have been significantly upgraded, including 1080p support on next-gen consoles, resulting in characters and backgrounds coming to life in greater detail than ever seen before in Resident Evil.”

The game will also feature the ability to swap from 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen views, and controls can be set to classic, Resident Evil tank controls or “an alternative scheme where the character moves directly in the direction of the analogue stick, utilizing the standards of the current generation of gaming,” Capcom confirmed. Swapping views or controls can be done at any time during the game.

Resident Evil will be available digitally in 2015.
