Reset your Final Fantasy 14 passwords after attempted hack

You can never be too careful.

Square Enix has advised players to reset their Final Fantasy 14 passwords after an attempted hack by a third party.

The publisher said that hackers are attempting to gain access to its account management system with email and password combinations likely obtained from “online services of other companies.”

You can reset your password here.

A couple things on this: first, never ever use the same password for more than one account. If you get hacked on one service, that would essentially give the hackers access to any of your accounts. We’d advise that players use a password management service like 1Password or LastPass to create unique password combinations for the services you employ.

Even better, if you can use a couple different email addresses when signing up for services, that makes it even harder for someone to brute force their way into your accounts.

Be safe out there, peeps!

Final Fantasy 14 Online is currently available on Windows PC, PS4 and PS5.
