Tero Virtala has stepped down as CEO.
Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala has stepped down, meaning the company has a new interim CEO and chairman of the board as a result.
Virtala’s departure means that Markus Mäki will act as interim CEO; he previously held the position of chairman of Remedy’s board, so his role change means that Henri Österlund will now act in that position.
According to Remedy, both its board and Virtala “have mutually agreed that Tero Virtala will step down from his position as the company’s CEO with immediate effect.”
Mäki will serve as interim CEO while Remedy looks for a permanent CEO, while Virtala “will continue at the service of the company during an agreed transition period to support the handover of CEO duties.”
Virtala has acted as Remedy CEO since August 2016, while Mäki is a co-founder of Remedy and has been a member of its board since 1995.
“I want to thank Tero Virtala for his substantial contribution to the management of Remedy since 2016,” said Remedy’s interim CEO, Markus Mäki.. I personally thank Tero for good cooperation and wish him all the best for the future.”
News of Virtala’s departure follows a “profit warning” issued by Remedy over poor sales of FBC Firebreak.
