Rematch crossplay dropped from launch after early access issues

But it is coming.

Rematch has left early access to go live, but is doing so without crossplay availability.

“We understand many of you were looking forward to playing Rematch across platforms from day one,” Sloclap said in a statement.

“We did our utmost to include crossplay at launch, but Rematch is the studio’s first crossplay title, and we faced unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time. We should have communicated as soon as it became apparent that crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players.”

Sloclap instead focused on the areas it is committed to improving, including addressing lag and performance, desynchronisation, and stability — all issues we ran into during our early access play period.

Following this, Sloclap will turn its attention to core gameplay, competitive features, social, and casual play features.

“It’s very important for us that our players are able to enjoy Rematch with their friends, so along with bugfixes, crossplay is our absolute highest priority, we’re committed to delivering this feature swiftly, and we’ll share a more precise deadline as soon as possible,” the studio said.

“We already have a basic working version from a technical standpoint, but we need to implement the relevant interfaces, before debugging and polishing it, and finally passing console certifications successfully – all this takes time but we are doing our best to move forward quickly.”

Despite some initial setbacks, our experience with Rematch has been quite enjoyable — we’ve stuck to 3v3 and 4v4 matches in early access and have had a ton of fun. Here’s hoping those fixes come sooner than later.

Rematch is now available on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5; it’s also included in Xbox Game Pass.
